Press Release – Meeting between People’s Will Party and Syrian Democratic Council
In continuation of the joint work between the Syrian Democratic Council and the People’s Will Party, which witnessed an important step on August 31st of last year, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two side, two leadership delegations from the sides headed by Dr. Kadri Jamil and Ilham Ahmed, met on the evening of Tuesday, May 11:
- The delegations discussed the developments of the political situation at the international and regional levels, and especially the domestic level the main title of which during the past period was the continued absence of some national opposition forces from the political process in light of the persistence of the extremists within the regime and the opposition in obstructing the political solution and in perpetuating the de facto partition through a set of actions and propositions that are narrowminded and shortsighted.
- The delegations discussed the Syrian opposition’s situation and recognized that the overall situation in the country requires diligent work to bring together the real opposition, democratic, and patriotic forces, towards a national conference to be held on the basis of implementing UNSC Resolution 2254.
The two sides agreed to continue and enhance communication to achieve the objectives stipulated in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between them, and to expand the scope of their joint work.
