It can be said that a full year has passed without major military battles, and this is happening for the first time since the battles began.
There are certain characters whose roles do not seem to be written clearly in the script; nevertheless, their roles continue developing slowly in the background, then they make a small appearance every once in a while, so that we can get a glimpse of how they have developed.
During the Security Council session held today, Monday, March 29th, on the humanitarian situation in Syria, it was really peculiar to hear from Mr. Sergei Vershinin, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, while describing the humanitarian situation in Syria, saying: “It is telling that the most dire situation is in the regions not controlled by Damascus; it is in the northeast and northwest of Syria”.

Mohannad DlykanAfter ten years since the popular movement took off in Syria, Kassioun re-publishes herein an article entitled “Curbing the Violence… in Preparation for Countering Military Intervention”, which was published on the eighth page of Issue no. 518 of Kassioun on September 10, 2011, which was written by Mohannad Dlykan.
An Area the Size of Tartus and Daraa together can be cultivated; Syrian Agricultural Land: Where is the Increase and Decrease?
Ashtar Mahmood10% of the Syrian land that has been cultivated in 2010 remains uncultivated in 2019. Although the rate may seem small compared to all high rates and index numbers recorded during the Syrian crisis, the area we are describing here approximates 520 thousand hectares: i.e.: what is equivalent to the area of Daraa and Tartus combined! An area that can increase the amounts of grain and legume production on average by 900 thousand tons if recultivated.
March 8 has become known as “International Women’s Day”, though its name should reflect more its class-based essence, its origin, and its development which are essentially associated, as is known and documented, with the struggles of working women, something that has a universal character from east to west. International Women’s Day has generally become a focal day for the women’s rights movement worldwide. Somehow, over the years, it has become an obsession of the West, organizing events and conferences around this day, and calling on countries and governments to implement policies that address women’s issues and rights. In some ways, Western countries have tried to monopolize the role of setting the standards for women’s rights, and policing and evaluating the rest of the world’s adherence thereto. However, a quick look at the not-so-distant history reveals that the West was not even close to being a “pioneering” when it comes to women’s right and equality.
Syrian Consensus… The Essential Tool for the Solution… And a Tool to Accelerate International Consensus
Saad SaebStarting with the failure of the fifth round of the Constitutional Committee (January 25-29) and up until now, that is, over the last two months, the Syrian crisis seems as if it is passing, on its political side, through a phase of ambiguity derived from the “American ambiguity”.
The US alleges that its recent aggression on Syria was in retaliation for “Iranian strikes” against US targets in Iraq 10 days earlier. The analyses and readouts about this aggression are all over the place, and there is almost no entity in the world that has not commented thereon; particularly since it is the first military action under the new administration, which supposedly has atop its priority list two main objectives: addressing the accumulating internal crises and “rectifying the damage to the US’s image abroad and its position internationally”.
If we rely on the “Arab” media, which is to a large extent “oil”-dominated, there is no talk of the demise of “Israel” for one to discuss nor discuss the extent of its seriousness.
Security Treatment for the Situation of the Syrian Pound and the US Dollar!
Ashtar MahmoodThe Central Bank of Syria issued a statement on February 14 about the situation in the exchange market. The statement and the procedures that have been taken were mostly about “security”, as the collaboration between the Anti-Money-Laundering/ Combating the Financing of Terrorism and stakeholders was discussed to conquer a group of companies and agencies that work in speculation on the Syrian Pound and confiscating large amounts of money in the Syrian Pound and the US dollar. The statement also discussed other non-specific intervention tools.

It really suits the US that the (Syrian Quagmire), according to their expression, gets stabilized, i.e.: that the political stalemate guarantees the interaction of multiple factors in order for the country to remain a quagmire that swallows what has remained of capabilities and resources, and drives away all those who are capable and willing to lift the country up.
Over the last month, since Biden took office, we have seen the US rescind several decisions by the Trump administration, possibly the most by any new administration with regards to its predecessor.
In fact, Biden is reported to have broken the record for the most executive orders issued on the first day and first week by any US president, a good portion of them either revoking or reversing something that Trump and the Trump administration had passed. Nevertheless, a lot remains unclear about the Biden administration with regards to foreign policy, particularly our region and Syria.
Social Subsidies’ Bill; Securing the Essentials for Continuance does not cost 1800 billion Syrian Pounds!
Ashtar MahmoodWhen the number 3500 billion SYP is mentioned in the budget, we are talking about 40% of total government expenditure for 2021. It’s the most important expenditure bloc in the budget, which is a normal thing because it reflects the significance of the energy sector and securing essential food at least, i.e., it is the sum that expresses the continuance of securing the essentials for living, as the confusion in dealing with subsidies, rethinking about them, and trying to reduce them, is a major part of the crisis of the decline in the means of life support inside the country.
What’s the Real Objective from the Zionist Assaults, and What’s their Deep Meaning?
Saad SaebThere is a noteworthy consensus in assessing the objectives of the repeated “Israeli” military assaults in Syria. As we hear from analysts from various sides a unified assessment, the summary of which is that the attacks target Iranian and Hezbollah sites, forces, weapons, or leaders operating on Syrian soil, and that their objective is to undermine the possibilities of transferring weapons to Hezbollah, as well as undermining “Iranian influence”.
