Decision about the Political Solution and the Participation in Geneva Conference

Decision about the Political Solution and the Participation in Geneva Conference

The delegates of the 2nd regular conference of the Syrian opposition Popular Front for Change and Liberation, held on the 5th of October 2013 in Damascus, stressed that the developments of the situation in Syria and the ultimate submission by the different, inside and outside, parties involved in the Syrian conflict to the logic of approaching the political solution, in addition to the failure of both the external intervention and the one-sided

military-based solutions, proved with no doubt the correctness of the PFCL vision for the needed solutions as a way out of the comprehensive and bloody national crisis in the country, in order to reach the peaceful, democratic, radical, deep and comprehensive change in Syria.

The delegates reiterated their adhering to the PFCL decision to join the Geneva international conference for solving the Syrian crisis, due as declared so far in next November. They stressed that the PFCL should be representing itself as an opposition force on the seats of the Coalition of the Forces for Peaceful Change, condemning and rejecting the attempts by Washington, the NATO and western countries and their allies to diminish the Syrian opposition into a certain political formation, designed to fit the west, to be introduced as "a leading party" of all the oppositions in Syria.  Objectively, this runs as a paradox with Syria's heading towards political pluralism. On the other hand, the delegates underlined the fact that the PFCL extents of the required political, socio-economic, and democratic change in the country are far beyond restricting them through taking part in Geneva conference on the seats of the regime.

The conferees stressed that what is required from Geneva 2 mainly is an interrelated chain, starting with halting all forms of external intervention, putting an end to the bloodshed in Syria by any party, in order to launch a peaceful political process among the Syrians, only and exclusively. This should include fighting, by all means, the foreign militants and their alikes, whether they were takfirists or hardliners hindering the course of the peaceful solution. The delegates highlighted the importance of preserving and restoring the Syrian state structures all over Syria, and protecting all the Syrian national institutions, particularly the Syrian Arab Army, being the guarantor of Syrian national integrity.

The delegates adopted this decision as one of the conference resolutions.
