Kassioun Editorial 1290: “The Mecca Alliance” And the New Regional Order

The main narrative this media machine is trying to promote is that this alliance is a “Sunni alliance against Shiite Iran”. Some outlets go even further, claiming that this alliance is the first step toward a broader alliance that would eventually become an Islamic / “Israeli” NATO.

To put matters in their proper context, it is necessary to recall the following:

First: When the “Abraham Accords” were signed with the UAE and Bahrain in 2020, the same media machine was active in claiming that Saudi Arabia would be next, and that an “Arab/Israeli NATO” would be formed to confront Iran. At the time, Kassioun emphasized that the “Abraham Accords” were, in essence, an expression of U.S. retreat, rather than an expression of progress, and that the ultimate consequence of these accords would be to push the key countries of the region toward greater rapprochement with China and Russia, as well as greater rapprochement among themselves, ultimately against the US and the Zionist camp.

At the time, this analysis appeared to be completely outside the mainstream of commentary—not only within the Western media machine, but across all media, regardless of political orientation.

Second: As the “Abraham Accords” remained largely stalled for years following their signing, what Kassioun had anticipated happened, through the Saudi-Iranian rapprochement with Chinese mediation in 2023, known as the “Beijing Agreement”. In other words, while the US was seeking to push Saudi Arabia into a war with Iran in the interests of “Israel”, what actually happened was that Iran and Saudi Arabia moved closer together through Chinese and Russian mediation.

Third: The rapprochement subsequently deepened—not only between Saudi Arabia and Iran, but also between them and Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan—through a series of economic, political, and military understandings and agreements. Together, these countries began to form the nucleus of what Kassioun had early on called the “Five-Way Alliance”, bringing together states that share a common danger and threat: the American/ “Israeli” one.

Fourth: With the war against Iran, first in its initial wave last year and now in its current wave, it appeared as though Saudi Arabia was poised to join the American/ “Israeli” camp. At the time, Kassioun repeatedly stressed that this would not happen, and that although the war might produce temporary disputes and contradictions, it would, on the one hand, reinforce the decline of the American/ “Israeli” camp, and on the other, reinforce the rapprochement among the five countries.

Ultimately, the “Mecca Alliance”, and, a few days earlier, the alliance established by Saudi Arabia to protect maritime navigation, are temporary arrangements serving the following purposes:

First: Provide a security-military alternative capable of replacing the US military presence, which will withdraw completely from the region over the coming months and years.

Second: Establish an initial foundation for the new regional order, which will encompass the entirety of West Asia, extending to the Red Sea and including Egypt. Iran will necessarily be a fundamental part of this order. It will be supported by China and Russia, while neither the US nor “Israel” will be part of it.

Third: This new alliance will be used as part of dialogue and negotiations with Iran in order to reach a balanced formula for the new regional system. Under no circumstances will it be used to confront Iran in the interests of the “Israeli” or American side.

Understanding these dynamics proactively is of the utmost importance for determining the correct positioning of Syria—one that serves the Syrian people, as well as Syria’s unity and future.

Failing to understand these dynamics and proceeding in a direction contrary to them means acting against the interests of the country and its people. It means moving against the direction of history. And those who move against the direction of history become a turned page in history’s book—far sooner than they imagine.
