Kassioun Editorial 1244: He Who Perseveres Wins... He Who Gives Up Will Be Defeated!

Official and journalistic sources, both Syrian and non-Syrian, are talking about the possibility of a US-sponsored “security agreement” with the “Israeli” entity soon. The discussions include various details about the nature of the supposed agreement. Regardless of the veracity of the rumors, what these discussions all have in common is that they all involve Syrian concessions and concessions to the occupier in exchange for “some sort of” security or non-security “guarantees”, as well as talk of lifting US sanctions, which have yet to be lifted despite all the hype surrounding their eventual lifting.

The first starting point in examining this issue is the fact that “Israel” cannot be trusted under any circumstances, nor the US. Anyone who trusts them is setting a deadly trap for themselves, one into which they will fall sooner or later, and very soon, given the rapid and turbulent changes in the international and regional balance of power.

The second starting point is to diagnose the true state of international and regional balances, and the status of “Israel” itself. While it displays unprecedented arrogance, conceit, recklessness, and criminality on various fronts, it is, in fact, experiencing a sharp and rapid decline and a major existential crisis. It suffices to look at Shanghai, BRICS, and the new economic, military, and political balances, as well as their regional implications—from the Saudi-Pakistani alliance to the understandings between Saudi Arabia and Iran, to the strike on Qatar, the joint Egyptian-Turkish maneuvers, and much else unfolding on the surface and in the world—to understand that the era of the “Arab NATO”, “Arab moderation”, the “Abraham Accords”, and the “Israeli Middle East” has been buried and ended irrevocably, and that we are in the final quarter of an hour of American and “Israeli” hegemony in our region.

Therefore, victory today is in deed and word, a matter of patience for an hour; whoever perseveres will be victorious, and whoever surrenders will be defeated. To say that we are in a state of weakness is a true statement that should not be used as a basis for falsehood, for our weakness is temporary and treatable, while the weakness of our enemy is strategic and existential and has no solution. Therefore, whoever perseveres will be victorious, and whoever surrenders will be defeated. Any agreement concluded with the Zionist entity, if it includes the surrender of any of Syria’s rights to its unity and sovereignty over all its land, and to the unity of its people, will topple whoever signs it, whoever they may be.

Any illusions about securing stability through agreements with foreign powers, or offering concessions of any kind to them, are illusions that are extremely harmful to Syria, to Syrians, and to those who have these illusions. They are deadly illusions if they involve the Americans and the “Israelis”.

Securing the country, its unity, and its rights begins with achieving the overriding priority of unifying Syrians and closing the loopholes for foreign interference. There is only one path to this, with no alternative: a comprehensive political solution based on the essence of UNSC Resolution 2254, and through a general national conference that ensures the Syrian people’s effective political participation in determining their fate, leading to a permanent constitution and free and fair elections.
