Kassioun Editorial 1196: How Do We Protect Syria?
Every additional day of the ongoing battle proves what Kassioun has repeatedly confirmed, that it is not the battle of Gaza alone, nor even the battle of Palestine or Lebanon alone. Rather, it is a battle for the entire region, and part of a major global battle, in which the main hostile party is Washington. It also proves that the greater goal of the fire burning in Palestine and Lebanon is to ignite the entire region, starting from detonating its internal contradictions.
In this sense, we in Syria are by no means immune to this war, not only through the repeated Zionist attacks on our lands, but also through the various dangerous possibilities that are being diligently prepared.
The surprising statements made recently by Erdogan, warning of an “Israeli” invasion towards Damascus, did not come out of nowhere. We will have to wait to see whether they are accurate. There are also his statements in which he practically requested Russian-Iranian cooperation to repel dangerous possibilities. He had also previously expressed that Turkey itself is targeted by “Israel”.
The scenarios closest to reality in this context are the noticeable and clear work to reignite multiple fronts in different parts of Syria, in reliance on Al-Nusra and its likes, and perhaps others, within the framework of the American comprehensive hybrid chaos.
These developments, despite the risks they carry, also open the door to major opportunities to defend Syria and restore its unity and the unity of its people: First, by completely ending any illusions about above- or under-the-table deals with the West, through “step for step” or the like; and second, by moving towards a political solution through UNSC Resolution 2254, in parallel with the Syrian-Turkish settlement, which would - in addition to the set of benefits and necessities that we have previously referred to in multiple Kassioun editorials - defuse the new explosion that is being prepared for in a diligent and clear manner. Said explosion, in addition to significantly destabilizing the situation again and complicating the path towards restoring Syria’s unity, would also shed new Syrian blood and exacerbate the tragedy and the wound that has not yet healed.
The practical formation of a new international and regional system to confront the Americans and the Zionists has become the main way out of the series of fragmentation and sabotage. The nucleus of this system for our region is the Astana tripartite, along with key Arab countries that are equally threatened by acts of sabotage and fragmentation.
Around this goal, patriotic Syrians should rally, whether they consider themselves opposition, loyalist, or those with a third opinion, because what is at stake now is the future of Syria itself, and the future of the entire region. The new international balance is in our favor, and the possibilities of victory are much greater than the possibilities of defeat. However, the necessary condition for victory is the availability of the subjective internal factor to achieve it, and this is represented primarily by organized patriotic forces capable of pushing towards the solution, immediately and in cooperation with those interested in stability in our region and in the world.
