Press Release by Moscow Platform on the Announcement of the Constitutional Committee

Moscow Platform congratulates the Syrian people on completing the first step in the comprehensive political solution process, which is key to the many subsequent steps contained in the UNSCR 2254, which guarantees them the right to self-determination to overcome the catastrophe they have been living in for years and to build a new Syria, which would not have been possible without the great efforts paid by the Astana Tripartite Group (Russia, Turkey, Iran), starting from its patronizing of the Sochi meeting in early 2018 and up to the recent summit in Ankara. At the same time, Moscow Platform warns that those who had blocked the reach to an agreement on the Committee, both at home and abroad, and from multiple parties, will continue their endeavors to put obstacles.

The Syrian people will not forget the positions of the hindering forces, nor will they forget the firm and principled positions of those who pushed for a solution and for the formation of the committee. As the will of those who hindered was overcome in this file, it will also be overcome in the next files, until completing the political solution. The more the real patriotic forces support each other to push this solution forward, the faster will be its complete achievement.
