Preparations for the Final Round of Geneva-3
The last round of Geneva-3 has witnessed and been followed by several attacks by different sides against the Truce in Syria. Ever since, there have been different voices insinuating that the essential weight is back again to be militarily, according to its results the political solution of the Syrian crisis is going to be adjusted, in terms of form, contents, and time frames.
In contrast to this, a quite reviewing of the developments on the arena of that solution, especially some practical proposals putting it on actual rails as introduced in the last Geneva-3 round, on one hand, besides reading through the map of the moving battles on ground, along with the different regional positions, on the other, would suggest another understanding.
1- The different attempts, led by Washington with the participation of numerous sides, to delay ISIS defeat, and postponing final assaults against its strongholds are increasingly loosing grounds. All sides need now to back, in word and deed, the Russian effort to finish ISIS up, whether they were actually convinced or not in the necessity of this issue.
2- The attempts by different hardliners to spoil the truce, through doing all possible to delay the process of militants separation process, especially in Aleppo, with the aim of protecting Al-Nusra Front from being hit by the Russians, are now in most behind us. The military tendency now is to attack ISIS and Al-Nusra, and to further press to the maximum their associates. This by itself allows preserving and consolidating the truce.
3- Humanitarian access is constantly advancing, withdrawing the humanitarian issue out of mutual debate, negotiation or blackmail among the hardliners of all sides of the conflict.
The above mentioned points allow us to infer that the details and general outlines of what is happening on ground or elsewhere go in line with the political solution as represented by UNSCR 2254, Geneva Communique of 2012, Munich and Vienna Statements. And more, this goes in line with the outcomes of the last round of Geneva-3 and serves turning these results into realities, as Geneva, at the end of the day, is an interacted and interlaced track and process, which is not related only to sitting to tables.
This means that what has happened, since the end of the last round up till now with the current logistical preparations for the next and final round, is directly associated with the process of taming and nail-cutting of the regional countries that are hostile to or hindering the political solution, along with their «Syrian» representatives and proxies.
The major responsible for the doomed-to-failure attempts to breaking the political solution is still the fascist current inside the USA in addition to regional players and local extremist forces that all welcome these attempts and try to invest into them to the maximum as it’s obvious for them that the political solution will not fit with each original interests, due to the fact that the incarnation of the new international balance of forces objectively necessitates the presence of Syria as a united and integrated stable state, with a deterioration to a zero-rate in the negative impacts of the regional players.
On the other hand, any talk about actual stability has to do ultimately with realizing the radical, deep and comprehensive national democratic change, politically and socioeconomically. Syria and its people are exactly at the launch-threshold towards this.
