On Monday, October 23, the “Arab World Press” (Arabic) quoted Mr. Boutros Merjaneh, a member of the Syrian People’s Assembly and head of its Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee, as saying: “I believe that the current situation may be too complicated for Syria to take any military action against Israel at the present time”. It is not known whether this opinion is his personal opinion, the opinion of the committee, or an expression of the opinion of others who are not expressing their opinion. In any case, it is a statement that brings to the fore a very important question: How can Syria have an effective role in the ongoing battle? This battle does not concern Palestine alone, but rather concerns the entire region, and concerns Syria in particular, perhaps more so than others.
Today, Wednesday, the Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle Eastern and African Affairs, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, met with the representative of the leadership of the Syrian Opposition Front for Change and Liberation, head of the Moscow Platform for the Syrian Opposition, and Secretary of the Popular Will Party, Dr. Kadri Jamil.
The battle taking place today on Palestinian land deserves to be described as a historical and global battle at the same time, and one that opens a new page in the world order.
If the Zionists launch a ground invasion of Gaza, it is very possible that this invasion will turn into the last adventure undertaken by the Zionist entity. This is because doing so automatically means expanding the scope of the war, so that it includes all of Palestine, and in a much more effective way than it is now. It also means expanding it towards the region, with all the major risks that this entails for the Zionist entity itself before anyone else, and with it its allies who will not survive the direct effects on them, their interests, and their troops in the region.
The heroic battle of the “Jerusalem Flood”, launched by the Palestinian resistance against the “Israeli” occupation, has continued since the early morning hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023.
From time to time, the slogan “turning East” appears at the official and semi-official levels in Syria. Temporarily, media spotlight gets intensely shed on this slogan, through articles, analyses, media discussions, statements, etc., and then it disappears completely.
Those who are against the implementation of UNSC Resolution 2254, which is concerned with Syrian led and Syrian owned resolution of the Syrian crisis based on Syrians’ right to self-determination on their independent unified land, are divided into two main types. The first type are those who verbally agree with the resolution and allege supporting it, while in reality they do all they can to prevent its implementation. The second type are those who openly stand against implementation of the resolution. Both types exist at the local, regional, and international levels.
The strength of any popular movement lies in its collectivism and its ability to organize itself, and the peacefulness of any popular movement is always its most important and strongest protective shield, and one of the most important guarantees of it reaching its final goals.
The most important weapon in the popular movement’s hands in its newest wave is understanding and comprehending the lessons learned by its previous wave, and benefitting from the major lessons enriching the collective human heritage of peoples’ movements towards extracting their rights.
Syria-related events and developments are moving fast inside Syria and in its surroundings, near and far. This is connected to several factors, the most important of which on the external level is the continued shift in the international balance of power against American and Zionist interests, in parallel with the approaching deadlines that Astana is working on and the increased coordination between Astana and major Arab countries. On the internal level, there is the continuation and gradual expansion of the new wave of popular movement.
